Forget your Sunscreen on the Hiking Trail?

22 Jul

Hopefully you didn’t forget a shirt. Loose fitting, lightweight, and light in color clothing that covers your arms and legs is the best way to go when it comes to protecting your skin from the harmful rays of the sun, if you have no sunscreen. A hat with a brim of some sort is a good idea to cover your face and even your ears if the brim goes all the way around. This too should be lightweight, extremely breathable and preferably in a lighter color. Light colors reflect the sun where a as dark colors absorb it. If a Tree Falls in the Woods and There’s No One There to Hear It…

… Then there’s no one there to require its shade either. Stay in the shade. Any shade! Homemade sunscreen is a great idea, something you would have made at home and brought along. But remember? You went ahead and forgot the sunscreen… So that idea is defunct. Did you at least remember the aspirin? If your stomach can take it, 3 to 4 aspirin a day when you’re going to be out in the sun can help prevent the action of the ultraviolet rays of the sun on your skin. I wouldn’t count on this for long-term, but if you’re in the middle of nowhere…

Forgetting your sunscreen is a little bit like forgetting your keys when you’re going driving. It should never happen.
